Career

Sujata Vasudev Bhat, born in Ankola, the south Indian state of Karnataka.

She graduated in chemistry in 1961 and followed it up with a master's degree in Organic Chemistry in 1963 with distinction and 1st rank from Karnataka University, Dharwad, India.

Subsequently, she enrolled for doctoral studies under the guidance of S. C. Bhattacharyya,National Chemical Laboratory Pune and secured the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 1967 from the Savitribai Phule Pune University and moved for her post-doctoral studies at the laboratory of professor Werner Herz and completed her post-doctoral studies in 1972 at Florida State University, USA.

She married to Dr. Vasudev V. Bhat after completing her Ph. D. research work. The couple has one son Ashish who is married to Supriya.
